Wydown Middle School is a public middle school located in Clayton, Missouri in the Clayton School District. As of 2007, the school principal is Ms. Mary Ann Goldberg, with Dr. Milena Garganigo and Ms. Dorothy Kelly serving as her assistant principals. The school currently has 559 students enrolled.
Wydown Middle School was erected in 1942. At this point, Wydown was being used as a junior high school. Because of the large population of students, Clayton High School was created as a complement to Wydown.
The school was built on a site used during the 1904 World's Fair as an "exhibition" of members of the Philippine Igorot tribe. For a time, the school mascot was therefore the Igorot;[1] now though it is the "Wydown Wildcat."
Blue Ribbons
The school was recognized by the Blue Ribbon Schools Program for the 1990-1991 school year. [2] In 2006, it topped the state of Missouri in math scores for non-selective public schools with more than 500 students.[3] The school has remained on the top ten list in math since 1999. [4]
