British house trio X-Press 2 comprised former record store manager Ashley Beedle (aka Black Science Orchestra), DJ Diesel, and DJ Rocky (aka Problem Kids). The threesome became involved in electronic music in 1993 while playing in a post-acid house outfit called Ballistic Brothers. Their first hit single, titled "Say What," peaked at number 32 in the U.K. chart in October 1993. In October 2000, X-Press 2 released "AC/DC," followed by "Muzikizum," and "Smoke Machine" in 2001. A year later, the deep house single "Lazy" anticipated their debut album, Muzikizum, featuring collaborations from electro/pop Yello's Dieter Meier and Talking Heads' David Byrne. In 2006, the group released its second album, Makeshift Feelgood. Coast2Coast arrived in 2008, as did greatest hits collection Raise Your Hands (Best of X-Press 2). ~ Drago Bonacich, All Music Guide

X-Press 2 first rose to underground prominence through the tracks "Muzik Express" and "London Xpress". X-Press also gained plaudits on the club scene for regularly parading in clubs with their multi-decked (up to twelve decks with three DJs) sets.
Their debut US single "The Sound" went to #1 on the Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart in 1996. 2001 saw the release of their albumMuzikizum which contained two more U.S. dance chart entries: "Smoke Machine" (#31) and "Lazy," which hit #1 in 2002 and was a mainstream pop hit in the UK, peaking at #2. The lead vocals on "Lazy" are sung by David Byrne of Talking Heads, and on "I Want You Back" by Dieter Meier of Yello.
