[ʹzænə͵dōō]

Old name for Shangdu, Inner Mongolia, China. The imperial summer residence here, built during the Yuan dynasty, in the late 13th century, was the inspiration for Samuel Taylor Coleridge's famous poem 'The Pleasure Dome of Kubla Khan'.
