XFX is the manufacturing division of Hong Kong-based Pine Technology Holdings Limited (SEHK: 8013). The XFX division, begun in 2002,[1] has its major office in Ontario, California and specializes in the manufacturing of video cards based on Nvidia and AMD graphics processing units and motherboards. XFX is also one of the leading graphics solution manufacturers in the United States, and claims to be ranked number one in Europe.[citation needed] XFX products are geared towards the mainstream, gaming, and enthusiast computing market.[citation needed]

Contents

Video cards

XFX manufactures standard design graphic cards with Nvidia and ATi graphic processing units. XFX also produces non-standard design graphics cards.

Overclocked cards

In addition to reference clocked graphic units, XFX also supplies overclocked graphic units that are similar to the ones produced by BFG, EVGA and ASUS. This is targeted at the enthusiast market, as well as those who may be unfamiliar with overclocking. These overclocked cards are often sold alongside cards with standard clocks at a slightly higher price. Overclocked solutions are commonly designated with the names "Extreme Edition", "XXX Edition", "Black Edition" or "Alpha Dog Edition."[2][not in citation given]

Fatal1ty video cards

In 2006, XFX made an agreement to use the name of a well-known professional electronic sports player, Johnathan "Fatal1ty" Wendel, on a division of graphics cards.[3]

Passively cooled video cards

Like many of its competitors, XFX also produces passively cooled graphics cards, such as the XFX GeForce 7950GT 570M and the 8600GT Fatal1ty. These cards use larger heat sinks and more heat pipes to cool the cards efficiently without using fans. Although the passive coolers are completely silent, the cards that have them usually run hotter than their actively cooled equivalents.

Television

XFX previously produced an original TV show called Extreme PC Garage, in which XFX took an under-performing PC and upgraded it to a high end system. The program was similar in concept to MTV's Pimp My Ride.
