Xiangfan

• Location: Hubei/China

In 1950 the two cities of Xiangyang on the south bank of the Han River and Fancheng on the north merged and the name is thus a combination of the two previous names. Xiangyang received its name from its position on the yáng 'north bank' of the Xiang River. Fancheng 'Fan Town' was named after the fiefdom of Fán and chéng 'town'.
