Plot

Produced by Charles Urban's Eclipse company, this sports reel proved popular on both sides of the Atlantic. As many as 50 yachts are seen participating in a high-stakes race off the coast of Cowes. The camera follows the action from the vantage point of a tugboat, which trudges along just ahead of the racing yachts. Audiences were enthralled by the images projected on the screen, which -- according to contemporary reviewers -- seemed to be Three-Dimensional in their vividness.
