Archaeology
After the capital of the Wei empire in China is returned to Luoyang (Henan Province, China) -- where the capital had been until Luoyang was sacked by the Huns in 311 -- Buddhist monks move the project of carving statues of Buddha in river cliffs from Yungang to Longmen, 12 km (8 mi) south of Luoyang. There over a period of about 300 years they carve from 100,000 to 150,000 statues into the rock. See also 489 ce Archaeology.
