Review
Renamed the Jon Tiven Group (formerly Jon Tiven's Ego Trip), his second album finds him once again walking the fine line between blues and soul music. With guest appearances from Simon Kirke, Jim Carroll, Peter Wolf, Billy Ray Martin, and Sir Mack Rice, Tiven splits the album between soul tunes and blues with a smattering of rock & roll to spice things up. Like the first album, Tiven wrote most of this with Don Covay, Jim Carroll, and Mick Taylor with the exception of an unreleased Van Morrison tune, "If You Rock Me." A solid effort. Alan Merrill sings. ~ Cub Koda, All Music GuideTracks
