Yew Tree housing estate is in the extreme north of West Bromwich, England, near the town's border with Walsall. It was developed during the late 1950s and early 1960s by West Bromwich County Borough Council for municipal housing which included some of the borough's first multi storey flats most of which have been demolished and replaced by housing and amenities. Yew Tree Estate joins onto the Friar Park Estate, which makes Yew Tree just outside the Wednesbury Borough. Yew Tree has a good amount of common land and also local shops and a local pub and most recently a number of newly developed houses. It has one school Yew Tree Primary divided between two locations, the original Yew Tree School still stands on Birchfield Road the second Yew Tree School has replaced Fir Tree School on Greenside Way.The pub goes by the name of "The Orchard" formerly "The Archers". Residents of Yew Tree Estate have Walsall addresses and phone numbers but are in fact residents of West Bromwich.
