Ynet is one of the most popular Israeli news websites. While it is owned and operated by Yediot Ahronot, the country's leading daily newspaper, most of the content is original work published on the website only, written by a semi-independent staff. [1][2] Originally launched in both Hebrew and Arabic versions ("Ynet" and "Arabynet"), the Arabic page ceased operations in May 2005. Currently there is also an English edition, Ynetnews. Ynet's main competition is Walla! and NRG, operated by its competitor in print, the daily Maariv. In 2008 Ynet was Israel's most popular internet portal, as measured by Google Trends.[3]

According to Alexa Internet traffic rankings Ynet is among the top 1000 websites in the world and in top 10 sites in Israel.[4]
