Midorikawa, Yoichi (1915-2001) Japanese landscape photographer, born in Okayama. A dentist by trade, he began photographing as a student in Tokyo and co-founded the group Ginryu-sha with professional photographers. He gradually turned to photographing landscapes in his forties, in particular the Setonai-kai around his home town. His work stresses the beauty inherent in the conjunction of nature and human activity; for example, in the lines of light on ships' wakes in a sunset sea.
