"(You're My One and Only) True Love" was a hit single by Seduction. The second single released by the group, it peaked at #23 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, #56 on the R&B chart, and #3 on the Hot Dance Club Play chart. It was an unexpected success, achieving Gold certification in the United States. This result ultimately opened the door for producers Robert Clivillés and David Cole of the C+C Music Factory to release Seduction's first album, Nothing Matters Without Love.

Controversy

The song featured uncredited lead vocals by house music singer Martha Wash. In the music video, Wash's vocals were lip-synched by Seduction's April Harris. Wash herself, angry about not receiving proper credit for her work on the song, had to resort to legal action, and successfully sued Sony Records to receive full credit as well as her share of the royalties.

You're My One and Only was originally recorded by Ricky Nelson in 1957 on the Verve Label 10070. The B side was "Honey Rock" It was often listed in error as "You're My One and Only Love"
