Plot

Huang is a recent widower, and is in mourning for his beloved wife. Ying Ying is a young woman in love with Wang Su, who dies early in the film in a motorcycle accident. Huang and Ying Ying are friends, and Huang finds himself in the position of comforting and being comforted by Ying Ying. In one of their meetings, Ying Ying confides that she is pregnant with Wang Su's child, and at first contemplates having an abortion. Later, realizing that her lover was an orphan, she thinks that it would be wrong to eliminate the child who is, after all, tangible evidence of Wang Su's existence. While the two are comforting each other for their losses, they discover that they are also courting one another, and a marriage between them is likely. ~ Clarke Fountain, All Movie Guide
