Sebti, Youssef (1943-93). Algerian writer and teacher of rural sociology. In 1981 he published a volume of poetry, L'Enfer et la folie, a log-book for 1962—including memories of the Algerian War (l'enfer) and violent attacks on the new bureaucratic middle class (la folie). He also wrote a number of unpublished volumes of poetry and was a regular and outspoken contributor to the review Révolution africaine until his death by assassination.
