Yssichromis argens is an undescribed ray-finned fish species in the family Cichlidae. The type species of its alleged genus Yssichromis, Y. fusiformis, is nowadays usually included in Haplochromis again. The delimitation of Haplochromis remains not very well resolved, and while the present species may belong there, it may just as well belong to some other genus of the Haplochromini.
This species is extinct in the wild and survives only in public aquariums as part of a Species Survival Plan of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA). It was endemic to Tanzania. Its natural habitat was freshwater lakes.
