Biography

Chicago native Yung Berg sat in the music industry background for the first half of the 2000s before his "Sexy Lady" jam blew up in 2007. At 15 years of age, he already had a record deal, signed to DMX's fledgling Bloodline Records, but his parents hastily pulled him out, sending him off to a military boarding school in Montana in 2001. After returning from school a few years later, he moved out to Los Angeles to get his career going again. In 2005, Berg jumped at the opportunity to work with Disturbing tha Peace member and Chicago rapper Shawnna as a hype man and as vocal/writing support in the studio. Soon, Berg was making bigger moves. He established his Yung Boss imprint, ghostwrote for other rappers, and his production team, Yung Bosses (of which he is a part with JFK and Rob Holiday), scored tracks for Eve, Juelz Santana, Memphis Bleek, and also Shawnna. When he sent the "Sexy Lady" single out to L.A. radio, it became a local hit. Labels were approaching the young rapper left and right with major deals, but he eventually settled with Epic Records. The six-track EP Almost Famous was released in July 2007. The hit single "Sexy Can I," a collaboration with singer Ray J, appeared before Berg's debut full-length, Look What You Made Me, landed in the summer of 2008. ~ Cyril Cordor, All Music Guide

Career

At age 15, Yung Berg was signed to DMX's Bloodline Records. He made his debut on the Exit Wounds soundtrack on the song "Dog 4 Life" as Iceberg. However, his parents sent him to a military boarding school in Montana in 2001.[3] He moved to Los Angeles after finishing school in 2003.[4][3] In 2005, Yung Berg worked as a hypeman and recording assistant for Disturbing tha Peace member and Chicago rapper Shawnna. He founded his Yung Boss imprint and production team Yung Bosses with JFK and Rob Holladay. Berg's debut single "Sexy Lady, which featured R&B singer Junior, became a hit on Los Angeles urban radio, and he signed with Epic Records among many labels that approached him. Berg's six-track EP Almost Famous: The Sexy Lady EP was released in July 2007. "Sexy Lady" peaked at #18 on the Billboard 100. In 2008, Berg released another single "Sexy Can I", a collaboration with singer Ray J, then his debut album Look What You Made Me.[3] The second single was "Do That There", featuring Dude 'n' Nem, followed by "The Business", featuring Casha, which peaked at #33 on the Hot 100.[5]

Yung Berg insulted Miami rapper Brisco on a video podcast.[6] After singer Ne-Yo accused Berg of copying auto-tune vocal style from T-Pain and Lil Wayne, Berg posted a video blog criticizing Ne-Yo.[7]

In December 2008, Berg began casting "exceptionally stand out beautiful dark skin/brown skin women to showcase beauty of all races" for a potential dating reality show that he would host.[8] However, as evidenced by the trailer for his new TV Show, titled "Back In Business", it will not be a dating show. [9] In September 2009, was released his song "Baby Im Back" featuring Rihanna. [10] He also appeared in singer Kat DeLuna's debut single Whine Up music video.
