Yves Marie André

André, Yves-Marie, Père (1675-1764). Jesuit teacher, remembered for his Essai sur le beau (1741), a methodical treatise on aesthetics defending the idea of an unchanging ‘beau essentiel’ and stressing the links between beauty and morality.
