Montand, Yves (pseud. of Ivo Livi) (1921-91). Italian-born film actor. He grew up in Marseille and became known as a popular singer, strongly committed at first to the Communist Party. His long acting career, for much of which he was married to Simone Signoret, was crowned by his appearance as a Provençal peasant in Jean de Florette and Manon des sources [see Cinema].
