Zaida (Rossini: Il turco in Italia). Mezzo-Soprano. A Turkish slave-girl, sentenced to death by the Turkish Prince Selim, to whom she was once engaged, but saved by Albazar. When Selim sees her again, his feelings are rekindled, but he then has to decide between her and Fiorilla, the Italian lady he has met. Created (1814) by Adelaide Carpano.
