Zeltia is fishing for a cure for cancer. One of the company's biotechnology subsidiaries, PharmaMar, develops tumor-fighting compounds from a library of thousands of marine organisms. Lead drug candidate Yondelis may treat soft-tissue sarcoma and other cancers. Other subsidiaries are leaders in the Spanish market for DNA testing (Genómica), home insecticides and air fresheners (Zelnova), and paints and wood protection products (Xylazel). Its Promax wood and building conservation unit has had a hand in the protection of such Spanish landmarks as the Prado and the Alhambra. The group's latest addition, Neuropharma, is developing therapies for neurodegenerative diseases.
