Zhima Jie (Chinese: 芝麻街; pinyin: zhīma jiē) is a Chinese adaptation of Sesame Street, that aired from 1998-2001. There was an unsuccessful attempt to revive it for the 2004 season.[1] Because of its importance in Chinese culture, the show's curriculum goals emphasized aesthetics and the arts. This area was further divided into three subsections: sensitivity to aesthetics (perception, sense of hearing, kinesthesia, language arts, and Chinese calligraphic arts), aesthetic experience (experiencing nature, perception of the human-made environment, and arts appreciation), and artistic creativity (composition, music and body movement, and music composition).[2]
