Zin

 

Wilderness south of Canaan. The Israelites passed through it on their way from Egypt to Canaan. It lies between Kadesh Barnea and Akrabbim, and is referred to as the wilderness from which the spies went up to Canaan (Num 13:21). It was in this region that the incidents at Massah and Meribah took place (Ex 17:7; Num chap. 20). It was the southern limit of the territory of Judah (Josh 15:1-3). Identified as the wilderness lying south of Kadesh Barnea, between the Negeb and Sinai.
