Zmags is a media company specializing in bringing traditional printed material online using a mixture of Adobe Flash and serverside programming.

Originally named "Zmag" referring to the visual impact of the service provided, the company was founded in January 2006 by Jens Karstoft, Kim Knudsen, and Andreas Graae. The company employs 60 employees and has head quarters in Boston, MA. The company was founded in Denmark from where key functions like product development and customer service is taking place. The company also has representations in London, England, Canada, and Oslo, Norway. With more than 500,000 daily readers of publications, Zmags is considered as one of the marketleading provideres in the emerging industry of ICM and digital publishing.

In April 2009, Zmags expanded the digital publishing industry when launching the idea of ICM (Interactive Collateral Management), which broadens the appeal of digital publishing from traditional publishers to marketers and other types of communicators. The core idea of ICM involves a 360 degrees approach to how entire enterprises get more out of digitizing and analyzing their collateral. The holistic approach is made possible through an advanced analytics section, where readership and readers behavior can be analyzed for continuously optimization.

In July 2009, it started allowing customers automatically convert PDFs to page-flip magazines and share them on the major social networks.[1]

The distribution model is based on SaaS and is hosted by Rackspace at their London facility. The application is loadbalanced, distributed and runs on 25+ servers. Worldwide distribution is ensured through content delivery network provided by Akamai.
