A tubular jade object with a square cross-section and a circular hollow in the centre. Found in Liangzhu, Shang, and Zhou culture contexts of Neolithic China. Sometimes decorated with t'ao t'ieh motifs perhaps representing a mythical animal figure. The purpose and symbolic significance of zongs are unknown.
