The characteristic or condition of a zygote. The term occurs primarily as a suffix combining form to denote genetic makeup, referring specifically to whether the paired alleles determining a particular trait are identical (homozygosity) or different (heterozygosity), or to the condition in twins of having developed from the fertilization of one ovum (monozygosity) or two (dizygosity).
