You can either buy filter cleaner or use gas, either way they will both clean the filter. You will need a 5 gallon bucket or a large plastic bag. It is best to clean several filters at once, because it is a dirty job. Fill the bucket with a little bit of gas or cleaner and place the filters in. Soak the filter in the cleaner for about five mins. Then carefully squeeze the excess liquid and dirt from the filter. Be careful not to tear the filter. Repeat if necessary. Allow the filter(s) to dry then soak them with filter oil. A good air filter should last through several cleanings.
Rather you own a 2stroke, or 4stroke, cleaning you air filter is a very important, yet easy, part of maintaining your machine, clean air filters give you increased performance, and longer engine life.
Depending on your bike, the first step varies, some have doors on the side of the air box, some require that you remove the seat, and some require that you remove both the seat and side panel(s) to get to the air filter.
remove the air filter, there should be a wing type bolt or such that holds it in place in the center, or it may be simple and just be a latch. I would fill a small pan with diesel (do not use gas or acetone, paint thinner with mineral spirits will work fine) to rinse the old oil and dirt out of the filter, remove the filter from the cage.pour a little into a clean container (coffee cans work great!)
use the air filter like a sponge, press it into the oil and soak it up,Be thorough and make sure there are no dry spots! after every spot is covered, wring out the excess oil and pour it back into the bottle. Some airfilters, you have to apply rim grease,Set the filter somewhere clean and dry for about 15 minutes before you put it back in the bike.in the mean time, you might as well clean the air box
it is a four stroke engine. gas only. use four stroke motorcycle oil when you change oil in the crankcase. clean air filter also.
Without make model and year info this will contain a bunch of info you do not need. Many motorcycle air filters are a foam or gauze reuseable filter soaked with oil for proper filtrationMany two stroke engines using a paper filter will "spit back" at certain rpm. This means that droplets of fuel and oil will spit out of the carburetor into the air filter and stick to the surface. Many four stroke engines vent the engine crankcase into the air cleaner and as the engine wears it will begin to pass oil into the air filter making a mess. Usually a sign that the engine requires an overhaul.
You can clean your air filter with an air hose. You can also clean your filter by submerging it in soapy water. Allow the air filter to completely dry before putting it back in.
??? Replace it do not clean it.
The air filter is under the gas tank
better sprocket configuration, better electronics, exhaust, carb and air filter would be the cheapest way to start
An air filter.
Take the air filter off and clean it then put it back
Just clean the carburetors bowls, change the air filter and make sure fuel delivery is correct from the tank filter. have fun , Great motorcycle.
The cheapest is a clean air filter. The cheapest is a clean air filter.
Ther should be an access panel in the top of gas tank that is where the air filter is located .
it is probably at the back of the car
