03 astro van A C only blows out of defrost vent where do you look for vacuum hose?
under the dash on the passenger side
Most likely a bad or disconnected vacuum hose to the defrost/floor selector in the heater ducting.
small vacuum hose in engine compartment is cracked
Many cars use engine vacuum to operate HVAC controls. If vacuum is cut off the system defaults to the defrost mode. Check the HVAC vacuum supply hose under the hood leading from the engine. It may be disconnected or damaged.
You have a vacuum hose disconnected or broken. Check under the hood for a small vacuum hose out of place or broken.
Why would the ac on a 2000 Chevrolet Malibu to blow on your feet no matter how you set the controls except for defrost then it blows on the windshield?
You most likely have a bad vacuum hose in the engine compartment or a bad control switch.
What is wrong when the air conditioner on a 1989 Oldsmobile 98 regency blows out the top and not through the vents?
Could be a vacuum problem--either broken or disconnected hose or bad vacuum motor under dash or coming in through firewall Defrost is the default position for this system
Why do panel vents do not blow out air when you hit the AC button or panel vent button it blows out the windshield defrost vents 1989 Topaz?
most vehicles use a vacuum diaphragm to move the mode door inside the dash from the floor to the vents to the windshield. Either the vacuum diaphragm is leaking or the vacuum hose has become disconnected. In my 85 topaz the door pannel vents are used to defrost the side windows.
you probabally have a vacuum hose disconnected
Why would the ac on a 2000 Malibu always blow on your feet no matter how you set it except for defrost then it blows on the windshield?
Either you have a defective selector switch or the most likely is that you have a broken, cracked,or loose vacuum hose at the rear of the engine.
Check for vacuum leak--either under dash or in engine compartment Check for bad vacuum motors under dash Defrost is the default position for this system There is a vacuum resovoir located behind your battery , it is for this condition. When you accel your engine doesn't produce vacuum due to the throttle plate being open so a resovoir is there to hold a vacuum reserve so that when there is low vacuum produced by the… Read More
The vehicle does not have just one hose. A vacuum leak in any hose can cause low vacuum and the door will not operate properly. The leak could be under the dash or under the hood.
My guess is that you have a vacuum supply problem. Most HVAC systems operate off of a vacuum and if the vacuum supply is cut off the system goes to defrost by default, your most important function. Check under the hood for a cracked or pinched vacuum hose.
The HVAC controls operate off of vacuum supplied from the engine. If the vacuum supply is cut off the system defaults to the defrost mode. My guess is the vacuum supply hose is disconnected/broken/cracked or pinched, start by checking under the hood and inspecting the vacuum lines.
It's not vacuum. Try this link http://www.chrisfransen.com/Ford_Blend_Door_Fix/index.html
You either have a bad selector switch or a bad vacuum hose at the rear of the engine.
Not knowing what vehicle you have, many vehicles use a vacuum supplied by the engine to operate the different positions for the air to come out. When the vacuum is absent the system defaults to the defrost mode. I would check the vacuum supply hose starting at the engine for cracks, damage and disconnection.
The vacuum hose line routing diagram can be obtained from most Chevrolet dealerships. Obtaining a diagram will be the easiest way to visualize vacuum line routing.
Did you check the Power Brake booster vacuum hose? Also the booster itself make have a busted diaphragm.
The first answer is correct and heres where the leak most likely is. Under the hood, against the back firewall close to the middle, you'll see a vacuum tree. Several hoses plug in here. Both the Tempo and Topaz I've had this happen to, occured here. Look for a unplugged hose or a cracked or dry-rotted hose and replace as needed. Defrost is the AC/heat system's default position. Likely you have lost vacuum to the… Read More
What would cause the heater-ac blower on a 1996 Grand Cherokee to only blow out the window defrost and not at the feet and panel?
You have a vacuum leak. When the a/c controls don't get any vacuum, it defaults to the defrost position. Check and make sure someone didn't accidentally disconnect the vacuum hose with their feet. Look under the dashboard on the passenger side.
lose of vacuum to heater deverter valve.follow heater hoses from engine to heater core valve has two hoses in and two hoses out and one vacuum hose.vacuum hose gose to tee then back to engine other vacuum from tee controls heater switch defrost to floor heat knob. replace all of these lines about 6 feet will do it.now the bad, you must pull back the dog house about a foot divers side to remove one… Read More
If you have the electronic climate control system it most likely is a Vacuum Hose leak Start under the hood on Passenger side and replace all hoses from canister to under the dash this should help. With a Vacuum leak it defaults to defrost mode
The vacuum hose located near the firewall behind the battery. About the size of a straw as I was told by dealer. vacuum contol motor or a broken switching cable
it works by vacuum .if it is not working more often than not a vacuum hose is rotted. this one is hard to get at . it runs from the top of the engine to a round black ball down by the passenger front tire .start by finding the ball [a little bigger than a soft ball ]and trace the small hose back to the tee connector under the dog house [engine cover] i have… Read More
Whats the problem when the ac blows from the defroster instead of the vents in a 1993 Lincoln mark 8?
I had the same problem on my 95. Check the vacuum hose that goes from the center of the intake manifold toward the passenger side of the car. (You have to remove the intake air box that heats incoming air which is on top of the intake manifold. Pretty easy, just a few nuts and a clamp) Mine had gotten old and was cracked. The default mode for lack of vacuum on the blend doors… Read More
The best way to repair a vacuum hose on your Chevrolet is to replace the vacuum hose. The vacuum hose is held in place with a retaining clamp on each end of the hose.
How do you fix the air conditioner on a 2002 Ford Windstar that switches from the panel to the defrost vents when the engine is under a load?
Sounds like you have a vacuum leak - -bad or loose hose or defective diaphragm in one of the vacuum motors
You did some work on the radiator bypass for your 2000 Ford Windstar 38L and now the vents inside the cabin won't change from defrost Is there a schematic showing you where you can look for the proble?
I am not sure what you mean by the radiator bypass. But it sounds like you have a loss of vacuum to your AC/heater control. When you have no vacuum to the control, it defaults to defrost. There is only one vacuum supply entering the passenger compartment through a black hose under the hood on the passengers side close to the AC lines where they go through the dash. There is also a vacuum canister… Read More
1987 Taurus stuck on defrost for months then all functions worked for about a week Now it back to defrost only Is the vacuum hose connection behind the dash board or in the engine compartment?
well ive heard (i had a similar problem with my car) that vacuum lines are to blame, the default setting for you air conditioning is defrost since if it broke and you were in the snow up north at least the air would defrost your windshields to fix mine i simply had to plug in a vacuum line that had come unplugged, you might have some wierd sort of leak in yours
my chevy blazer 1984 the air conditioner blows from down side only.
In most cars the duct selection controller is vacuum pressure actuated. There is an apparent problem with the selector diaphragm. When you accelerate you create more vacuum pressure that overwhelms the diaphragm and hence the duct change. It may be as simple as a leaky hose in the dash. Most systems default to the defrost vents in the case of vacuum failure. To sum it up, it is a vacuum problem. Y-THINK-Y
If you have just defrost and a fan setting of high, it is the small diameter vacum hose that runs from the drivers side of the throttle body to the "T" near the passenger fender. athis small hose gets very brittle ..
There is no transmission vacuum hose. That is a vent hose.
How do you fix the air conditioner in a 1992 Ford Mark 3 when the front blows cold air but the back does not?
It can be a vacuum problem. Check to see if there is vacuum going into the cab. Check for a pinched hose or one that is soft and collapsed.
What causes a 2004 jeep grand Cherokee Laredo work just in defrost even if you switch for other positions?
behind dash is a small switch with a small hose hooked to it It may be a vacuum leak on the hose the problem can be the switch gone bad
On the passenger side under the hood on the fire wall there is a vacuum hose along with a one way check ball valve, the vacuum line always brakes or cracks which will cause the air to only blow on defrost or blow from vents until you give it more gas or climb a hill. Find the broken vacuum line and repair it, that will fix the problem, if it doesn't you may have a… Read More
Its the hose that attached to a vacuum. Its where the suction is transferred from the vacuum cleaner to any attachments. Its also generically referred to as a vacuum for your car.
That would be a vacuum hose with a hole in it, burst isn't usually a term I would use with a vacuum hose as it tends to imply pressure pushing out.
99 jeep grand Cherokee Laredo-The cold air from the ac comes out of the defroster instead of the panels. The selector knob does does not work when it is plced in position on the desired settings?
Most likely the vacuum hose is disconnected or broken. Does your cruise control work? Check this out : http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f9/fan-always-blows-defrost-selector-doesnt-work-830241/
Near the firewall under the hood, there is a little vacuum hose that has a plastic disk looking thing in the hose. This piece actually has to do with an engine backfiring, but that disk thing is probably cracked from heat and age. Needs to be replaced. If that is okay or you can't find it, Look for a vacuum hose going into the firewall, follow it to the intake and make sure it has… Read More
Most likely a vacuum leak turn on the vehicle and listen in the engine compartment and listen for the sound of air escaping from a hose. Replace the hose and your problem should be fixed (i had this happen to my 1993 s10 blazer)
Why is the AC air cold and the blower is working but no air is coming out of the vents on a Chevy Astro van 6 Cy?
Vacuum hose that runs over the thermostat housing is leaking at that location.
vacuum hose dimgram for 1994 ford bronco

What if the blower on your 1995 2500 GMC blows air only on floor it will not switch to any other settings like defrost Any ideas?
Fixed one of these this morning in front of my shop while carrying on a conversation with a friend who had stopped by. You will need approximately 2.5 feet of 1/8 inch rubber vacuum hose to effect this simple repair. After the engine has cooled completely, open the hood. After opening the hood, find the A/C accumulator (a large, silver cylinder just below the passenger side of the windshield). Looking around in that area and… Read More
The vents are controlled by vaccuum from the intake manifold. Check for a split rubber vac. hose on the manifold- Hope that helps.
Depends on which hose you are talking about... There is a diagram under the hood of your truck that shows you the vacuum hose diagram.
Also known as a Buchner or vacuum flask, the flask uses vacuum to filter samples. A vacuum hose is attached to the hose barb and the funnel is placed on top. As the hose creates a vacuum, the sample is filtered through the funnel.
The vacuum hose on the civic is going to be to the left of the intake manifold.
Just pull off the old vacuum hose, cut an appropriate length of the correct sized replacement hose and push it on. If you can't find, or get, the right sized vacuum hose, windshield washer hose is often an acceptable replacement. BTW, it is totally acceptable to replace those hard plastic vacuum lines with rubber vacuum or washer hose.
