Answer . \nLowering the rpm's will decrease power. This rpm for this speed sounds normal, so why are you trying to lower it. Fuel economy? The engine may work harder at a lower rpm and actually use more fuel. You can lower the rpms by changing the rear axle ratio. This can be done in 2 ways. Rem…ove and replace the differential with a different ratio unit, or change the size of the rear tire/wheel assembly. Going to a larger tire will decrease the rpms, but not by much and if will cause the speedometer to be off, and possibly effect the computer settings. its one of the coils.. get a light tester and check to see if power is going to both coils.. check grounds too... i had this same problem.. engine barly acce to 4k and it was slowwww doing it.. its one of ur coils im 100% good luck.
The RX8s have a big problem with that. The first step is to try starting it as if it was a flooded engine. You can look it up in your owners manual. Try starting it. If it fails, hold the gas pedal all the way in and then try and start it. Crank it for 10 seconds. Then let off the gas and turn the c…ar off. WAit a second then try and start it. It should start. If not than you may have a bigger problem that Mazda is still trying to figure out (something with the imobilizer security system). Take it to a dealer. (MORE)

Bas…icly like What an Immobilser is, a remote controled kill switch installed into the cars electrical system. let me give you an idear lets say you have a battery a light bulb and a switch now if eveything is connected and the switch is on the light will light up. now what if we had two switchs one is the igition and the other is the immobilser switch if you tryed to start the car an the immobilser switch is off it doesnt complete the ciricit and the car doesnt start. Perhaps the best answer is that it is not "abnormal". Remember that the RX8 is a rotary engine, and works VERY differently than a traditional piston drive. I'm not a cert. mechanic for mazda, but my family has been driving them for well over 30 years (they've been very good to us) - and from w…hat I can tell, 4000 in a rotary is close to what 2500 would be in a piston-engine. The RX8 could probably hit 14000 RPM w/o really doing damage to the engine. The "red-line" at 8500 is there so the factory-installed clutch could handle the transitions. :-) I have it on very good authority that (once the engine is warmed up!!) you should hit redline at least once a day. :-D Seriously. Once I started doing that in my '05 RX8 (still going strong!), my gas mileage actually went UP (engine is better lubricated) and it has _never_ flooded. (a particularly nasty habit for RX8s of that year) So... yes, it's okay. In fact, anything *less* than 3k may not be good for the engine. Shifting around 6k-7k RPM is not only completely safe for the RX8, but very much recommended for the life of the engine. i.e. if you don't hear that cool jet-engine-whine, then you are not driving the car nearly hard enough. It was designed by a racer, to be a racer. Taking an RX8 easy isn't good for the engine.. Sure is; normal I mean.. Power curve is optimal at the 3500-4000 RPM anyway. (MORE)

RX 8s do not have power steering pumps they use an electric power steering system. If you are having trouble good luck the dealer I went to just wanted to change it out instead of a easy electrical fix.

It is very simple. The only oil pan on the car is completely exposed. Remove the drain plug that looks like a bolt (I believe it is a 17mm wrench that is needed). Drain the oil. Put the plug back in. Then from the top of the car you can reach the fuel filter. You may want to use a cap style filter w…rench to remove the filter. The filter is located on the left side in the back of the engine. I own a 2004 Mazda RX-8. I have had a multitude of problems ranging from an engine failure to my transmission failing, my clutch even failed at 1500 miles. I have had the clutch pedal replace 2 times because the weld that holds the 2 parts together has failed. The engine seems to be the biggest issu…e though, andeven though there is a 100,000 mile warranty on it, it takes around 3 weeks to get it fixed under warranty because the engine has to come from Japan. Also, since I was not 25 when I had the engines replaced I had one hell of a time getting a rental vehicle while my car spent over 1 month in the shop. So yes they do have problems. Mazda also, has not been the most helpful with these issues and has tried avoiding fixing these issues every time I have taken the car in. I now have 65,000 miles on mine and am looking forward to selling it. I am sure there are people out there who have had luck, but I have 2 other friends that have them and they have had the same issues with the car and with Mazda. In the 4 years I have owned the car it has spent over 4 months in the shop, which is completely unacceptable. I love driving the car and it is fun and fast, but I will never buy another Mazda, I don't care if they have the highest rated car on the market. (MORE)
Can be many reasons depending on where the shake is from and what speed. First check tyre pressures are correct. Check for bulges in tyres....have you hit kerb? Is wheel dented? check wheels and tyres are all the same size and are fixed on properly. check if tyres are worn badly/ unevenly, just r…un hand over them lightly and feel any sawtooth type wear. If its this get car aligned and change tyres. If vibration is about 42 mph then front wheels need balancing if 50+ then rear wheels. Get this done at GOOD tyre dealer. The engine has a rev limiter while the transmission is in neutral. It will rev to higher rpm's when the transmission is in gear.
get a rca connector kit with a amp turn on wire off eBay called add-a-amp kit, the power wire can run through the big rubber grommet where the other wires are on drivers side under the hood, be sure to cut a slit there and use a coat hanger to fish it through the other side which will be to the left… of the brake pedal. get more info at rx8club.com (MORE)
it has whats called a rev limiter to keep people like you from blowing it up.
if you are/have in the past used synthetic oil stop. it will take two or three oil chances to stop this. if you run the motor six to eight hours in summer this will stop this too. the cause is water condensing in the oil compartment
from what i know since my cousin has this car it does a lot of nice stuff. for the doors if your wondering about if the back 2 doors open they do from the inside. it has 6 speed manual. the class of it is a sports car. if your at a place to get one just hope your lucky because to get a cheap one lik…e my cousin got one that's $18,000. the trunk of the car has good room. its nice and cozy inside and it has a nice looking interior with good air conditioning and a 6 CD input for the music. and you can hook your iPod in it to charge. its got good speed 195mph. it has good room for the seats in the back and it has a sun roof. theres nothing to not like about the car. its got front and side airbags, four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes, stability control with traction control and tire pressure monitoring. it has 212 horsepower and The RX-8 is available in four trims, Sport, Touring, Grand Touring and the R3. hope this helps (MORE)
you have to take the front bumper off start with the side marker lights then there is a guard in front , youll see it when the hood is opened pull that off youll see some bolt. then look for your bolts under ur head light mount there's 3 and then one on top then one final one after the mount is off.… Am afarid that's not really true, all you need to do is turn the wheel in the way (passenger or driver side), take out the black plastic plugs and remove the panels then you will be able to see at least 1 screw and certainly feel the second maybe see it depends how far in you can get. Remove those two screws and the indicator lense will come straight out. ***Note though do not pull it right out as the bulb and wire are still connected, you need to disconnect them first. (MORE)
All of this refers to halogen lamps. If you have the xenon lamps it isn't recommended you try to replace them yourself. The owner's manual shows the basic process. Access the headlights from above the front tires, the headlights are behind the mudguards. It helps to jack up the car to make mor…e room to work above the tire, but you don't need to remove the tire. There is a top and a bottom mudguard. You only need to worry about the top mudguard; the bottom one doesn't come into play. Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove enough of the push-type rivets to bend the front part of the mudguard down and back over the tire. This gives you access to the back of the headlights. The rubber gasket over the light assembly just pulls off, but it's not easy to do. You can grab one of the two flaps that stick out with a pair of needle-nose pliers and just pull. There is a black plastic piece that holds the lamp in, and aligns it correctly; this piece is held in place by the retaining clip and the lamp plugs into it. Don't touch the glass on your new lamps! Oil from your skin will vastly shorten the life of the lamps. When reassembling, you can reuse the push-type rivets on the mudguard (if they're unbroken and not too brittle.) It's much easier to insert them if you remove the center part of the rivet, pinch together the four arms of the outer part and insert it into the mudguard and the hole behind it. Once that's in place it's easy to reinsert the center part. If you need new push-type rivets, be sure to get the proper size. Some available in auto supply stores are too short and almost impossible to snap close. Mazda parts, of course, fit best (and cost the most.) HOWEVER, I strongly recommend against trying to do this yourself. I'm an experienced home mechanic (I work on my race cars), and I just caused a several hundred dollar repair replacing an $8 bulb: that retaining clip mentioned above is *completely* inaccesible, and if you pull in the wrong direction... *snap* goes the cheap plastic bit that holds it, and now I think we'll have to pull the whole fricking bumper off to get the broken headlight assembly out (the broken bit being an integral part of that assembly) and replace it. Frankly, this is engineered like CRAP by mazda, and I say that as one of their biggest fans (I currently own 3 mazdas). (MORE)

I have a 2001 Sebring v6(2.7l or 3.0l) and i have the same question. When im driving 80 mph im at 3,000rpms. From what i have been reading it sounds normal. I just got the car and used to drive a 2001 F-150 v8 5.5l. So the difference in sound is huge, like im running the engine too hard.
Technically, no. But that's only because the Mazda Rx-8 uses arotary engine, not piston technology. Therefore you can't classifyit as a V6. They've still got a decent amount of power, but it'stough to compare rotary and inline engines side by side; theprinciple is different.
