1986 jeep Cherokee 4.0 you have replaced the heater hoses and a new heater thermnostat is on It still over heats When you turn the defrost on full blast it cools down What else should you do?
bad fan clutch, clogged radiator.....................when you turn the defrost on, the heater core is acting like the radiator...............good luck, Mike
More than likely its the defrost timer or the defrost heater. You can try and advance the timer which is usually located at the top of the refrigerator compartment. Its usually a small round circle with a slot in the middle. Take a slotted screwdriver and advance it till you hear it click then stop advancing it. This more than likely is defrost mode. It should kick on the defrost heater. Listen closely if you…
It is a strange looking part under the hood tapped into the heater hoses on the left side of the valve cover(when standing by the grille). Between the oil filter and the firewall. It has a vacuum hose coming out of the top of it that goes through the firewall to control the different controls of your heater (eg. vent, heat, defrost)
What would cause the heater-ac blower on a 1996 Grand Cherokee to only blow out the window defrost and not at the feet and panel?
Why does heater defrost vent not open on a 1989 Sunbird and cold air blow from dash vents but no air blows from heater defrost vents and where are the enter and exit hoses for the heater coil?
I don't know why the vent would not open for the defrost, but it may be related to the fact that your heater core is blown. If your getting nothing but cold air out of the vents when the heat is on, your core is finished and if the core is finished then it is likely related to your vent not opening/switching. Something''s wrong with your heating either way.
Why do you keep blowing fuses when you turn on the heater fan but when you take out the compressor fuse it doesnt blow the fuses?
Your 1999 buick lesabre just had the radiator replaced and then the heater core went out should they have replaced the heater core when they replaced the radiator?
Your ford ranger temperature gauge drops when you turn on the defroster it is a 1991 you have replaced the thermostat and flushed the coolant twice?
How can you fix your heater in a 1996 jeep Cherokee the air and heat will only come out from defrost no matter what the selector is on?
The mode door is vacuum controlled in the GC and the default fail position is defrost only. You most likely have either a vacuum leak or a broken vacuum line. There is a vacuum junction under the passenger side dash that kids like to kick and pull the vacuum line loose. That's the first place to check.
Why would the air conditioning only blow air from the defrost and floor vents and not the dash vents?
I would think that is a vacuum or a linkage problem with the heater control assembly (where all the buttons/slides are for changing between floor/defrost/vent) Had a diaphragm go bad on one once, and in a jeep cherokee, a slight collision with a guard rail knocked a vac line off for the vent controls, and ac only worked from defroster.
1991 Chevy G20 van- Why won't airconditioning blow out of dash vents instead of defrost and heat vents?
I had a Chevy van of this vintage and I found a vacum hose leak in the controls that would make the heater/defrost door default too defrost open. lisining carefully under dash or under hood may pinpoint leak. It depends on the model. Some don't have a defrost heater at all, only a timer. On models with a heater, it's either mounted to the evaporator, or actually woven into the evaporator. You'll need to gain access to the evaporator coils - they're typically at the back of the freezer covered by a panel of some sort. If it's mounted to the coils, then you may be able to replace it yourself. Also, the…
