The Fuel Pump Relay is located Under The Hood, On The Firewall (Drivers Side), Behind The Master Cylinder. I answered this question myself by purchasing a Haynes Repair Manual.
in the fuel tank
Could be the fuel pump or the fuel pump relay. Have a pressure test done on the fuel line and monitor it. If you lose fuel pressure when you step on the gas, then your fuel pump is likely going out.
the fuel pump on most cars with fuel injection is a electric fuel pump inside the fuel tank
Problem other then Fuel Pump
Drop the fuel tank. It is in there.
Im not an expert on these 88 models, but I did look at a wire diagram for it. On both the 4-cyl. and the 6-cyl. the power is routed thru the fuse panel, the fuel pump relay and the oil pressure switch. But you have to remember that the pump itself is over 20 years old.....Check that it is getting power to the pump.
against he firewall on the driver side of the vehicle. you will see a plastic cover there with one nut holding it on remover the nut you will see three black relay switches the center on controls the fan as well as the one on the firewall next to the battery. the other two control you fuel pump and fuel monitoring system
It's most likely a Vacuum leak, it could also be the fuel relay. The fuel relay is located below the glove box, on the passengers side of the vehicle against the outter wall. When you first turn your key, just before it engages the starter, do you hear the fuel pump? if not, then almost certainly the fuel relay.
It is located in the tank...
Mounted on top and inside the fuel tank.
GM vehicles do not have a fuel shut off/inertia switch
No. I have an 89 z24 as well, and I had to put in an automatic reset switch in my fuse box manually
