Check the MAP sensor. To see if this is the problem, assuming that the Jeep won't start but is turning over, unplug the MAP sensor and then plug it back in. If you can start it now, the MAP sensor needs to be replaced. The MAP sensor is located in the engine compartment, where the firewall meets the body at the top of the engine compartment, on the driver's side. Good luck.
Check the oxygen sensor. My 1995 Grand Cherokee stopped stalling while driving after it was replaced.
brake hose's are about $20 each , steel lines can be replaced in sections for about $5 a section
The grand Cherokee is a body style, sport is a trim package that is used on all jeep models(wrangler, Cherokee, grand Cherokee, patriot, ...)
I do not believe there is such a thing as a tcu. there is an ECM (engine control module), and a TPS (throttle positioning sensor) TCU: Transmission Control Unit. On a Jeep Cherokee (not sure about the Grand Cherokee), it's located on the passenger side behind the dash. You can reach it from the bottom without removing anything, but it is easier of you remove the bottom of the dash.
No, the XJ Cherokee does not have the same heater box as a WJ Grand Cherokee.
I had that problem with my 98 Jeep Cherokee Sport, they ckd all kinds of things and finally replaced the fuel pump and then it was fine.
clean the heat filters
Is the TCM working normally and throwing no codes?
Mine needed to be replaced after 10 years $$$$$
Inside the dome light fixture. Slide it forward about 2 inches and it will drop off the clips. Control module is mounted inside the cover.
your motor needs to be replaced,or it could just be the module on the motor.

The airbag module in most Mitsubishi vehicles is located behind the steering wheel for the driver and behind the dashboard for the passenger. They can be replaced by disassembling the ECU brackets.
My '96 Cherokee Sport does, so I bet a '98 does.

Release the fuel pressure . Remove the gas tank . On the top there is a lock ring, loosen it and install the new module assembly.
