Had same problem with a 1995. changed alternator. worked for about 2 days. Then same problem. Took it in, found it was a bad negative battery cable. Looked fine but needed to be replaced. Had the exact same problem with my 98' TJ, it is internal corrosion on the smaller of the two red wires comming off the battery and going to the PDC. Replace the Battery cable!!! Fixed the problem on my Jeep.

Hook it up to a battery.
Disconnect the battery cables on the Wrangler. Find the battery hold down and depending on the style, either loosen or remove it. Lift the old battery out. Set the new battery into the battery tray. Reinstall the clamp, then connect the battery cables.
disconnect battery, then turn everything you can think of on, then after 20 mins reconnect battery making sure a firm connection to minimise sparks. start car.
