Find a different mechanic, correct plugs? Speedometer disconected at tranmission? Drain plug, filter not tight, gasket at oil pump?
Output speed sensor is bad. Changed already
They need to be at 700 cca. I recently had my battery changed and te AAA guy said that I had the wrong size battery in the car (I had 600 cca).
when working you must have knocked wire loose for battery termial. i changed the battery ends on my zx2 and missed one wire and spedometer stopped working. found the wire hooked it back up and has never failed since. i hope this helps you with your problem.
It will need to be recalibrated at a shop that specializes in speedometer repair.
I have changed the fuel pump on my 1993 Pontic Bonneville, it still is stalling any clues why? could be Fuel Pressure Regulator http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AKtR_yF7bi8&feature=related
AnswerWhen you replace the battery, sometimes the speedometer stops working and it's necessary to have it recalibrated. You should go to a dealer to have this done. They will charge about $20 to $30 for the work. I had the same problem and I had it fixed this way. I have a '03 Town and Country. My battery voltage got low and made my speedometer wrap around and peg out under the 0 MPH peg. My contact at the dealership told me to hold the trip odometer reset in, with ignition off, for about 10 seconds and instrument cluster would go into "reset mode". I did as told and it did some crazy jumping around and then rested back in the correct location. As easy as that! He told me this commonly occures when the battery is changed. I can't believe they would charge you $20-$30 for such a simple issue.Just to verify this fix, I had the same problem and as soon as I read this answer I went out to my '01 Town&Country pushed the trip meter reset for 10 sec. and problem solved. Thank you for the info!!
If a person recently changed the speed sensor in a 1990 Dodge B-250 Van and the trip meter and odometer do not work, there could be a fuse that needs to be replaced. The computer might also have to be reset to allow for the odometer and trip meter to work.
if you changed the battery of the car recently you might need to get the keys re programed for the cars immobilizer
Yes it changed recently.
looks.
have you changed the battery
On my car it was a relay called "Ignition relay". That relay also kept the battery for charging as it stopped and started the current flow to the battery AFTER the alternator. Changed and all symptoms you mentioned ( which I also had) went away.
