On the 96 Corsica the tail lights, reverse lights, sidemarkers, and license plate lights are contained in one module. To remove the module, open the trunk and pull back the felt against the back. There should be three large plastic wingnuts and two small ones. Remove the three large wingnuts and pull the entire light module straight out from the rear of the car. The bulb sockets just twist and lock in place. I recently changed tail light bulbs in 1994 Corsica there were plastic knob kind of nuts on the bolts inside the trunk about 6 to 8 of them, just remove them push out the bolts to open and replace the bulbs. I don't know if 1996 has a different kind of assembly.

Open the trunk, look for some plastic nuts, remove these and remove your rear lens assembly; remove sockets from assembly.
