I had the same problem with my 95 Cavalier after about 100k was the TCC solenoid. The engine needs to be lifted and the transmission drained for this to be is a pain to DIY. Call around to the 100s of transmission shops in your area for the cheapest price.
Have the module in the dist checked
Check and see if your engine is not over-heating first.
Had the same prob and after 3 days at a certified dealership they finally found that it was my fuel pump going bad.
Depending on the milage, sounds like an oxygen sensor to me
Check you fuel filter. That's probably why it will start again after 15 minutes. If it's clogged, fuel will take longer to get through it. Over time gas will get through it so you can start the car. It will run until it uses the fuel between the engine and the filter. Finally it won't be able to pull enough through the clogged filter to keep it running.
smokingallowed say's: I would suspect the fuel pressure dropping out after the pump gets hot, OR, the ICM (Ignition Control Module) You spoke of no code so I would look at fuel pressure

bad TCC would not cause no restart problem.

i would look at ICM or MAF sensor or fuel pump

what could cause a car to run for 20 minutes and dye and waiting about 5 minutes it will start back up and run for a couple of minutes and then have to wait and it will start back up and go for about 5 minutes and dye again. Chevy cavalier 2004

Open the radiator cap and pour coolant in. If you're filling an empty system, you'll want to leave the cap off, and run the engine for 30 minutes or so to 'burp' out any air in the system, then top your coolant off again.

Please ask this question again specifying the year of cavalier and the engine. Also, are there words that seem to make it stutter more than other words? Do you have one of these engines? 2.8L 2.5L 2.2L OHV 2.2L Ecotec 2.2L Quad4 SOHC 2.4L Quad4 DOHC Have you had a tune-up lately?
