No - its a relay issue.... In the short term, start the car again and re-shut down (This is the old Micro-soft solution). It should behave better . When it fails to respond properly later on, either change the relay (good luck) or turn off the cab lights at the roller switch, and engage the parking brake.
If a 95 Chevy Suburban's brake lights do not work but everything else does, it may be the link that connects to the pedal that has a problem. If the pedal has been adjusted or disconnected, it may also be a reason for the issue.
If the parking lights are on when the car is off its probably a switch issue.
There may be an issue with the relay switch going to the radio lights. There may also be an issue with the fuse.
I would start with replacing the head light switch
Our 1993 Ford would not randomly (or so we thought) shift into overdrive. We eventually figured out this happened when the headlights / parking lights were on. We then traced it to a bad ground in the parking lights circuit. We fixed the ground and the shifting issue was fixed. No joke.
Blown fuse, both lights are burnt out, There is a wiring or ground issue.
There is no way to disable the DTrs while driving, they are a safety issue. To turn off the DTRs, push down slightly on the parking brake pedal and the lights will go out.
Not sure if this is the total or correct answer for you. But I had this issue with mine after having engine work done, turns out that the ground wire hadn't been reattached properly under the hood. When the ground wire was fastened down properly, the issue with the lights was gone. Just a first thing to check.
The parking lights may stay on because the headlights have not been turned off completely. If the car is parked, the key is out of the ignition, and the headlights are turned all the way off, the issue is in your electrical system. It will need to be taken to a mechanic to be tracked down and repaired.
I have a 94 PF and the dash lights, visor mirror lights, glove compartment light, and parking lights intermittently don't work. I have checked all the fuses and they were all ok. I did replace the rear right tail light, but still had the same issue. I turn the light switch to the parking light setting off and on, and it takes multiple tries before they work. Not sure why they do not consistently come on....
I had this happen on my 2004 Suburban and the only way the dealer could solve it was to replace the entire stereo and CD unit. They told me that they have seen this happen on many suburbans. The service manager even gave me a copy of the service alert that GM sent out to dealers about the issue.
Hi, The cabin lights are controlled mostly by the Body Control Module (BCM). So depending on what your particular issue is, I would start troubleshooting there. Good Luck, Greg
