there is a recall for this
The speedometer is not working. When the speedometer gets to 65 mph I set the cruise control.
Cruise will NOT work if the speedometer has a problem
Drive on a freeway or highway where there's a speedometer check point. Set your odometer to zero, drive the exact speed limit (try to use cruise control), and after the speedometer check point is over (5 miles), you will be able to determine if your speedometer is working correctly based on the miles driven according to your odometer and the end of the checkpoint.
If the odometer stopped working and the speedometer and cruise control still work, you have a bad odometer. It is part of the speedometer assembly so the whole thing will have to be replaced.
Can be VSS - variable speed sensor an electrical part that is mounted on transmission it senses road speed, transmission speed & displays this on the dash board as speedometer reading if it is not working properly speedo and/or cruise control will read incorrectly
The speed sensor on the trans.
Probably a blown fuse. Check your manual to see if they share the same one.
Check for a loose wire or loose fuse
possibly a bad/broken speed sensor located on the transmission
ABS and brake lights on dash will be on. Speedometer and cruise will be inoperative.ABS and brake lights on dash will be on. Speedometer and cruise will be inoperative.
Your speed sensor probably broke and needs to be replaced. If the car can't determine it's speed, then it may automatically disable the cruise control.
ECM fault, wiring fault, brake or clutch switch not releasing fully, bad switches.
