Look at your AC pump, and start your motor and turn on your AC. Listen for the clicking coming from the pump. That is you clutch cycling on and off for the AC. If that is the noise you are hearing then your good to go. If not then you will have to look else where, BUT BE CAREFUL when the engine is running.

on my 98 Bravada there is a flap under the car where the oil filter is. I took mine off and on the passenger side of the radiator, theres a green radiator plug. On mine you turn the plug and pull it out a little.
follow top radiator hose to intake. at the end of the radiator hose is the neck. theres two bolts pull the the neck off. that is where your thermostat is
