could b thermostat going, radiator cap bad or it may just be dirty/broken down coolant that needs to be changed.
I had a ford contour that overheated a lot. Took it to several mechanics and no one could find a reason to why it was overheating. Since I couldn't fix the problem, I just kicked on the AC when it started to run too warm and that kept it at normal running temp.
could be several things. 1st is the car actually overheating. If so then it could be a stuck thermostat or a bad water pump. If it is not really overheating my bet would be a falty temp sensor. The temp sensor is what actually tells the light to turn on.
I have a 1998 Ford Thunderbird that is overheating only during intown driving. In testing, I noticed that the fan is not kicking in when the temp is running hot. Where do I find the temp sensor and the fan relay?
well there no need to diagnose overheating, 260 is overheating big time. U have to find out why its overheating. Could be low coolant, a stuck thermostat, a clogged dirty coolant system, bad fan clutch, or if u have electric fan make sure they are coming on. if the fans don't come on, could be a fuse, the fan motor, a temp sensor, or a relay. With the ac on the fans should be running no matter what if it has electric fans. As soon as the ac come on the fans should turn on and stay running. if there not something is wrong.
Fault temp gauge.
It could, the computer will disengage the ac compressor if the engine temp is too high.
Its overheating.... or the wire shorted
After the engine has cooled to a certain temp, it should shut off. If it is running constantly, this is an indication the engine is overheating.
The coolant temp. sensor could be bad....or the thermostat could be stuck shut.....there are a few things it could be actually
Is vehicle actually overheating ? and Is it charging? Many of this early Optimas have grounding issues that can cause the temp gauge to read higher than normal
what is the running temp for a Mercedes clk220
Protects, no. The only temp sensor is the coolant temp sensor. The car will run until the engine is ruined if allowed to continue overheating.
