That would be clasic exhaust valve guides and or valve stem seals. They leak oil into the exhaust ports, when you start it the oil burns causing the smoke. when it is running the leak is so mimimal because the oil burns before it leaks into the exhaust port. had same thing on mine they had problem with valve gaskets i just did rebuild with upgrades on lifters and its fine some upgraded gasket kits. Little expensive but worth it.
sticky valves. marvel mystery oil in the intake thru a vacuum line while engine is running. it will smoke out the exhaust for a minute and the neighbors will be mad but oh well
follow your exhaust from your exhaust manifold and you will find.

Unbolt from the block & take the nuts off studs to exhaust flange. You will need a new gasket for the block & a new one for the flange.
