you need to check fuel pressure should be between 38 and 48 if pressure is ther then check for spark if your spark is good then take a commpression test should be above 128 if its low then check your timing marks these cars sometimes spin the bottom timing gear the key way breaks

if it just goes click click click and not start then you will require a new battery or a charge if you left the lights on...

I replaced it on my 2000 protege, and it was attached to the fuel pump inside the gas tank, and it is right under the back seat. if yours is the same, you will need to turn on the car unplug the pump relay that will turn off the car, unplug your battery, and start from there

The rear disc break pistons on Mazda are not to be pushed in. Instead you turn them in clockwise.

Either the battery just shows charged under no load or a bad ground at the terminals or starter. I think?

I had this issue with a Honda accord, the sound may be your CV joints and not the wheel itself.

User Avatar

there is not one. You must turn the heater on and take radiator cap off. Of course car must be running.

The steering wheel should be locked when the car is in park. Move the steering wheel a bit then see if the key turns.

the a\c clutch for the compressor is probably staying on when you turn the car off. It could be the ignition switch. or a bad relay.

1999 Mazda Protege turn signal light bulb replacement: Purchase the correct replacement turn signal light bulb(s) first, before disassembling the vehicle. See sources and related links below for replacement bulb information. Then consult your owner's manual for the turn signal light bulb replacement procedure. As simple as it sounds, the owner's manual is the best place to start for bulb replacement instructions and illustrations. You may want to consider replacing both left and right at the same time in order to keep brightness and color equal (optional).

A lack of fuel is the most common cause for an automobile to turn over but not start. A plugged air filter can also cause the vehicle to turn over but not start.

Front seating area, driver side, driver side of steering column, mounted behind dash upper panel.

I had the same problem. Your starter is probably going out. You can actually lightly tap the starter with a hammer and that gets it going.

More information is needed. Does the engine turn over, but not start? Have you checked for gas and spark?

what is your ?, a MAF is basicly a IAT The Mazda Protege and Protege 5 2.0L engine has an IAT Sensor located just past the factory air filter box. It is a two wire sensor that plugs into the intake tube via a rubber grommet. The three wire plug in the Mass Air Flow Sensor. DO NOT Unplug either of these sensors while the vehicle is running or key turned to accessory. Will cause a flag in the computer and turn on the Check Engine Light. Hope this helps.
