I own a 98 Lexus ES 300. I struggled with the same issue. The problem was the EGR Valve. It is an emission part. The total part and installation was around $300.00. It was a little expensive, but it cured the problem and have not had any problems since then. Hope this helps. Mark
A light signal
Blown fuse. Your brake lights don't work either.
The fuse, if not, then the switch, then the motor, but by then you will also need a test light and/or a DMM.
ours was making a teerrible knocking noise like it was low on oil. also the check engine light was stuck on. had a shop replace some gaskets (upper manifold maybe?) and noise is gone.
Use an automotive test light and see if you have power at the cigarette lighter accessory plugs. Than test both prongs on the fuse installed with the light. See if the fuse is getting juice.
There will be a slight difference in your total average, but unless you stayed in an idling position for extended periods of time then the overall average would have such a minute difference that it would be about the same.
The "check engine" light should be illuminated. Start with investigating the code(s). They may lead you to the cause.
