There's a short to ground. You'll need to trace the wiring to find it. I'd start by removing the bezel (it's just two screws above the gauge cluster), pull it out, disconnect the switches, and start from the 4HI switch.

If the instrument gauge fuse blows on your 1997 Suburban, you might have an issue with the wiring. An exposed or grounded wire can cause the fuse to blow each time the panel is engaged.
sounds like your water pump ain't pumping, don't drive it till it is!. could be as simple as a new fan bewlt or might even need a pump

You will need to adjust the temp gauge from cold to warm. Its located right on the middle vent(where the air blows out).
It depends on where you had it done, usually they are done at 14g but may be 16g.

Press your odometer button (black stem sticking out from below your MPH gauge. Press it in and you should get your trip meter. Press and hold it in and it will reset. Then drive safely. Any time you want to look at your mileage or trip meter just push button once. to reset press and hold. Enjoy
This would indicate that the system is low on coolant when the gauge is hot. Not enough coolant to service the heater core.
No - the gauge reports 'real-time' the engine temperature. If it is wrong, there is a problem with the sending unit on the engine. This is a pretty easy fix...

it could be the speed indicator hold the trip mile button in while in drive and it should say no mph like no smoking sign where the temp gauge is for the outside
On the filter there is a small gauge. Press the big yellow button.
