i haven't had problems with my 98 reverse, but my other gears have acted up. i believe that it might be the syncronizer. i sometimes cant get in 2nd or 4th gear. i have to shift it back and forth to work it in. SO, i might be having the same problem. a mechanic told me to either change the transmission fluid or to go ahead and get the syncronizer checked out. i haven't had problems with my 98 reverse, but my other gears have acted up. i believe that it might be the syncronizer. i sometimes cant get in 2nd or 4th gear. i have to shift it back and forth to work it in. that usually indicates a vacuum leak which causes the system to go into default mode, which is defrost.
