Paul Revere was an American silversmith, engraver, early industrialist, and a patriot in the American Revolution. He is famous for alerting the Colonial militia to the approach of British forces before the battles of Lexington and Concord.
Paul Revere rode into Lexington to warn the colonists. That's where the saying "The British are coming" comes from.
The Patriot Minutemen on Lexington Green exchanged fire with British regulars. As the British continued on their march, more militia members gathered along their route. One unit blocked their way at Concord Bridge and withstood a volley of concentrated fire. From that moment on, the militia harassed the regulars, firing from behind trees and stone walls all the way back to Boston. These skirmishes became known as the Battle of Lexington and Concord.
Paul Revere was a patriot. He was in the Sons of Liberty and was a Federalist Although he is famous for his midnight ride, he did actually say "The British are coming". Then he was arrested by British soldiers while he was riding to lexington, but a patriot he was, riding with delivered the message.

The British army then marched toward Concord, but were met there with superior numbers of Patriot forces and were forced to retreat back to Boston.

Paul Revere was stopped on the road to Concord outside of Lexington and his horse taken from him. At that point the British hadn't reached Lexington and when they did they were met by 77 colonists on the town green. There was no patriot leader taken that day by the British other than Revere earlier in the night.
