When I went hiking with my dad near a waterfall, we sat upon some rocks. When I went up there to rest with my brother I saw a little white and black caterpillar. I didn't touch it because I didn't know if it was poisonous. Please try to find some information about it.

When I was in my backyard I found a white caterpillar with a black stripe in the middle I touched it and it stared itching like crazy so don't touch it

If I'm thinking correctly, the caterpillar you two are talking about is a Hickory Tussock Moth Caterpillar. It's hairs are poisonous, so don't touch them!! You will start to itch and have rashes come up. If this should happen, you should probably report to your hospital. I think they are very pretty, but you know the most beautiful things are also the most dangerous! Ha ha

I was putting up a fence in my back yard with my husband one day i was wearing shorts and all of a sudden i felt this really sharp picky things between my legs it hurt really bad i started screamming and then took off my shorts right in the yard and out fell a white and black Caterpillar i broke out in hives and it was so itchy i didn't go to the hospital i was fine i got in the shower washed where it had rubbed its hairs all over my upper thigh i have no idea how it got there but if you are doing yard work hiking or just playing in the back yard watch out for them the rash was gone the next day !

I believe what you saw is a Hickory Tussock caterpillar. If so, do not touch it, as they have irritating stinging hairs! Here is a site with a picture you can use to confirm the ID and with more info - good luck!

A fuzzy, white caterpillar is a white wooly worm. It is the larvae of the Isabella tiger moth. Wooly worms range in colors from white to dark rust-brown. Black wooly worms are said to bring harsh winters, while white wooly worms are said to bring snowy winters.

A moth caterpillar could be described as fuzzy and with black dots lined in a row. There are several caterpillars, and some can be poisonous to humans. It is best to leave alone what you can not identify.

There are over 70 different species of caterpillars and butterflies, but I strongly believe that the caterpillar you are describing is simply the Monarch Butterfly, one of the most well-known species of butterfly on Earth. The caterpillar of such, is all black with different shades of orange and yellow stripes lining its back and neck. It has two tiny antenna on its black head.
