Hold at the end of the shaft, close to the blade, and insert the blade in the water as far ahead of you as possible. Pull the blade through the water by holding your arms straight while twisting your stomach and back, and pull the blade up when it reaches your body. Then shift the balance of the paddle, and insert the other end of the paddle in the water, doing the same as above. Remember that pulling in the right side turns you to the right, pulling to the left turns you left, while changing side all the time, you will go forward.
