Roman Catholic AnswerWe were created to be happy with God forever (eternally) in heaven. This earth is just a short "testing" period in which we either accept God's Love, are perfected, and go to heaven; or rejected His Love and end up eternally frustrated in hell. The Sacraments are the vehicles that God gave to His Church in order to communicate His Love and Grace to us as we journey through this life. Without His Grace, His Strength, and His Wisdom, we, on our own, are not capable of making the correct decisions, and living the life that He has planned for us. So all of the Sacraments give us grace, strength, Love, and Wisdom to live a good Christian life.

Roman Catholic Answer"A sacrament of passage" is usually used outside the Church to refer to many things, like acne, for instance. In the Church it usually refers to death and/or the Anointing of the Sick (Extreme Unction). I have heard it used to refer to Confirmation by some.
