What do you do when you first bring your dog home?
You be very quiet and let it explore it's new environment. It is preferable that you start in a small place so that a puppy can settle down and won't be too overwhelmed. A puppy may be distressed if there are lots of people around, so it is best not to bring loads over people over to meet the new puppy. Have the puppy in a place where you can watch them over the course of the day, and never scold the puppy, talk to it a lot using a bright friendly tone and don't surprise the puppy, be very gentle and loving. Feed the puppy with puppy food morning and evening with a small meal, preferably with wet food and dry food. The puppy will sleep a lot, and most likely need to go to the toilet afterward, so take your puppy outside or to it's litter box and have a phrase to repeat so your puppy will associate that phrase as a command to go to the toilet. Never wake your puppy by touching it, it may be frightened and try to bite, always wake the puppy with a noise and then pet or pick it up. After a couple of weeks your puppy can go to puppy school and learn simple commands and how to walk on a leash. Good luck!

What age can you train a dog?
A puppy can begin learning basic commands and socialization as soon as it is away from it's mother, so from about 8 weeks onwards. Other types of training may have to wait until the dog/puppy is mature enough to learn what it is being asked to do. Training should be kept fun so the puppy is kept interested and helps strengthen the bond between owner and dog.
