Only two states have legislated it, one lists 13 and one lists 14 to take care of others. Most people believe that a 12 year old can be left alone for short periods of time during the day. If they have had some training, such as the American Red Cross babysitting course, I'd consider it.

∙ 13y agoI am not sure but I think it is okay to babysit when you are 12. I think the law is 8 or 11. But I think it depends on who you are babysitting-family/friends. It also depend on how many children you are babysitting at once
